What can I contribute to?

RCF administers a Community Impact Fund that pools resources and contributions from multiple donors. Contributions support critical charitable projects and programs in Contra Costa County. By leveraging contributions of multiple donors, we multiply the impact of each donor and respond quickly to our community’s needs.

In addition, RCF manages several community initiatives and collaborations that focus on issues critical to Contra Costa County, including poverty, economic security, literacy and workforce development, as well as component funds created by donors to support the causes that are important to them.

As a donor, you may contribute to any of these existing funds or establish funds of your own, depending on your charitable goals. Our staff can help you determine which option would be the best for you.

What is the minimum gift required to start a fund?

All funds can be set up at Richmond Community Foundation for as little as $1,000. However, in order to distribute grants, there needs to be at least $10,000 in the Fund.

Can I name my fund?

Yes, you may. The fund name is completely up to you. Of course, our staff is available to offer suggestions if needed. Many funds are named for the donor, the donor’s family, or to memorialize someone. Or, you may remain anonymous. Many anonymous donors use a name that reflects their interests or something that is special to them.

What is Richmond Community Foundation’s policy around donor confidentiality?

We maintain the highest level of confidentiality with respect to our donor information. We do not share, loan or rent donor names, addresses or fund-related financial information with any individual or organization outside the Foundation.
